I purchased this antenna as an upgrade for the no-name unit that came with my Android head unit. Off the bat, this antenna is much heftier and solid feeling. Reception is great. Although it picks up the same number of satellites as the no-name antenna, signal strength is improved. The cord is a bit short, but Proxicast makes extension cables, which I picked up as well.
The shaft was exactly long enough for my waterproof fiberglass utility case. Drill a 3/8-inch hole, then clean with a rat-tail file. Perfect fit. Its base has several concentric rubber water dams for redundant water proofing. Recommended.
