Arkon GPS Car Mount for Garmin nuvi 40 50 200 2013 24x5 25x5 Series GPS Windshield Suction Mount with Flexible Gooseneck

  • This Garmin windshield mount works well. The flexible \'goose neck\' is very sturdy, but somewhat misleading when viewed on line. It\'s actually not a fluid, easy to adjust flexible neck of the type used for camera mounts that have numerous interlocking swivel points but, instead, it\'s a solid, malleable steel bar with a cosmetic plastic sleeve of the type that\'s commonly used to encase exposed wiring. The steel bar requires some muscling to adjust to your specific needs, but once you have it set at the angle(s) that you require to hold your device securely, it\'s solid. Note that the suction cup, while of good quality, will NOT adhere to anything other than your glass windshield and ONLY to an area that is dead flat. If you attempt to place it on any part of your windshield that has even the slightest curvature, it will not work.
  • I find that I end up having to add additional tape to keep this secure to my windshield under the weight of my phone. Then again, that problem presents with all of the windshield mounts that I have purchased.
  • Mine vibrates because I use it sort of sideways. Horizontally. Tried tiny bungy cords..not too effective. But did the job.
  • Works perfectly, if you mount it in a stabilized condition. There is no other product that can do this as this one can. This extension is very stiff, it has to be that way for stabilization, but it still can bounce around a little. One must be aware of this, but there is a cure. Lower the Garmin to allow at least one lower corner to rest or just touch the dash. This will stabilize the unit completely. This you\'ll have to plan for this and not have it completely suspended.
  • I wanted something as my iPhone 5S, being taller than my iPhone 4S, would hit the windshield when I would pull it out of its socket (I\'m using a ProClip holder).I couldn\'t decide on this or the GN02 5\", and with the cost of returns, decided to try them both. I found the 8\" vibrated too much and brought it too far off my windshield for my tastes (I have a 2007 Mercedes E350). But, if you can mount it so part can rest on your dash or some where else, it also works well to extend items from the windshield.BTW, I was hesitant to buy the the 5\" GN022 as I couldn\'t find a single review of it and it isn\'t secured by the normal lever mechanism, but by twisting a ring (you can see the hand-holds for it on the big end if you look it up).As the windshield is sloped, moving the mounting point higher/lower on the window doesn\'t help.Turns out the 5\" works great! It brings it a bit closer to me, that is an extra bonus, went on well, hasn\'t fallen off yet, and does have minimal vibration. I go over a mile or so of brick pavers to/from work everyday, so it gets a much harder workout vibration-wise than most folks will ever give it.
  • Initially disappointed when I received the unit, and learned that the Flexible Gooseneck description was not accurate. The goosneck appearance is actually light serrated plastic tubing that covers a solid rod. It does not bend in infinite postions the way a gooseneck lamp would bend. You have to bend the rod with both hands, and you only get one shot at making the bend right the first time.Having said that, I do find the unit does provide a much more useful positioning than the Garmin mount that came with the GPS. You have carefully select a position and carefully align the adjustable ball before you bend the rod. Make sure you are clear of the mirror and the visor, and the GPS does not obstruct your view.I selected a mounting postion on the lower part of the windshield just to the right of the steering wheel that puts the GPS at the edge of the dashboard where it rests atop the dashboard. It is very easily seen and within easy reach. It also mounts in the same relative position on my other vehicle.Suction cup is larger than the one on the Garmin mount, and seems to provide a stronger grip on the windshield.
  • I remember when I got the factory mount that came with the Garmin. That tiny little thing that is barely a couple of inches long was technically functional but it was never fun having to reach and stretch just to grab it. The final straw was when my wife called it, and I quote, \"cute.\" I just sat there, embarrassed at the miniscule size that had bothered me for far too long. After a few Google searches on how to fix the problem of it being too short I finally came across this model. It was so much longer that I wasn\'t even sure if it was real or not but I had to order it and see for myself. I still remember the day it arrived. Slowly, excitedly pulling it out of the box and seeing how long it was in my hands. I think my wife may have been even more excited than me to get in our driveway and mount it. I was so unfamiliar with working with something as long as this that it took me awhile to finally get it situated correctly. My wife and I agree though, after using a beast like this there\'s no going back to something smaller. Try one out, you won\'t be disappointed!
  • Needed some reach for my Garmin in my RV and this has been perfect. I put it on once and it\'s stayed ever since. Holds my Garmin in place with little bounce. I can use the touch screen easily. A couple of people complained about it being to stiff but I think it\'s just right. I needed something I could put out away from the dash and have it stay there and does that awesome. I would not want it looser, but I don\'t move it a lot. It\'s made my trips this summer much easier.
